    EKE 534:

    The ENKAY Visco 2000 Viscometer is specially designed to perform ASTM D4402 & BIS 73 high temperature testing of asphalt binders. The viscometer features an electrically heated thermal chamber with an auto tuned PID controller for precise regulation of asphalt temperatures up to 300 C. supplied complete with titanium bob & Stainless Steel Cup.

    Single point measurement can be performed via the instrument front panel and displayed on the built in keyboard or optional printer, eliminating the need for a PC. However, if more sophisticated tests and analysis is needed , the viscometer can be interfaced with a PC and can be used in conjunction with ENKAY Visco software

    The Components are:
    •    Heater casing the surrounds the cup containing the sample which heats it.
    •    Thermal Cover (one half shown) – This covers the sample to maintain a uniform sample temperature . Do not make measurement without in position.
    •    Cup – This pushes in to the hole in the center of the heater casting.
    •    Guard – This is to prevent the user touching the hot heater casting
    •    Connecter cable – This is to hard – wired to the base of the heater
    •    Heater  connecter – Connect this four pin connector to the HEATER connector on the back of the control box.
    •    PT Connector – Connect this circular connector to the PT-100 connector on the control box. The heater is controlled using the PT 100 sensor built in to the heater unit
    •    Spirit Level- Use this to check that the system is level . If not, adjust the leveling feet by turning their adjustment knobs

    Measuring System
    The Measuring System are :
    Lower measuring system – 227 mm wide (C25) cup 1 in which the sample is placed. This fits inside the heater casing. Upper measuring system – a bob 2 (concentric cylinder) which is lowered in to the cup. The bob has a conical base. The inner cylinder diameter is 25 mm. when the bob is lowered in to the cup as shown in the right-hand graphic below, the sample 3 fills the space between the two measuring systems, as shown below. The estimated sample volume is 15 ml

    There is a small recess 4 on the outside of the cups base which matches a small index in the button of the recess. When inserting the cup in the recess, check that the cup is seated in the correct positions. When the cup & bob combination is used, the gap is known and meets the DIN 53019 standard. There is a 1:1:1 ratio between the inner and outer cylinders. The measuring systems are made of Stainless Steel 316.

    ENKAY Window  Software:
    Viscometry  measurements are made using step shear rates to enable the equilibrium viscosity to be measured. The software automatically generates the curves, and viscosity can be plotted as function of shear stress, shear rate, time and temperature. Data Processing km/ions, Model Fitting, Job Stream (Script Writing) , user defined tests (Routine testing) and a context sensitive help system are integrated as standard in to the Viscometry software.
