Loss On Heating / Thin Film Oven
Loss on Heating / Thin Film Oven
Ref. Standard BS 2000-45 ASTM D6, D1754 AASHTO T47, T179
EKE 9709:
This Dual Purpose is designed to determine the loss in weight of bitumen and flux oils ( Loss on Heating Test) and the effect of heat and air on asphaltic materials (Thin Film Test)
The Unit is heavily insulated and has a double glass door for viewing the Test Chamber thermometer and samples.
Temperature is controlled at 163+/- 1°C by means of a variable temperature controller and thermostat. Two Rotating Platforms are supplied with each oven. One accepts 9 standard penetration cups for loss on heating test , the other accepts two 140 mm diameter test pans for the thin film test. The Platforms are rotated at 5 to 6 rpm by an external motor. Chamber dimensions : 350 x 350 x 350 mm
EKE 9709-1: Series Loss on Heating / Thin Film Oven , Operating Voltage 230 V A.C, Single Phase
EKE 9709-2: Aluminium Test Pan 140 mm diameter x 9.5 mm deep

Rolling Thin Film Oven(RTFO)
Rolling Thin Film Oven(RTFO)
Ref. Standards ASTM D 2872
EKE 9710:
The rolling thin film oven test is used to obtain homogeneously aged material by the application of heat and air in order to simulate these affects in conventional mixing.
The oven is of double wall side vents and of the heated convection type of air circulation. An electronic controller maintains the temperature at 163 ± 0.5 °C. A vertical, carriage is supplied to support 8 glass sample containers, which are rotated at 15 ± 0.2 rpm. An outlet 1 mm in diameter is connected to a 7.6 m length of copper tubing and flow meter which controls the airflow at 4000 ml/min. Air is blown into the sample containers at their lowest point of travel by an internal air jet.
The oven is supplied with 8 glass sample containers and a thermometer (IP 47C/ASTM 13C) . Internal dimension 483 x 450 x 381 mm.
A separate source of compressed air is required to operate this oven opening voltage 230 V. AC, Single Phase.
