    Speedy Moisture Meter

    EKE 036:

Using a speedy moisture meter the moisture content of soil sand and other fine grained material can be obtained quickly with reasonable accuracy. The test technique is based on the fact that water will react with  calcium carbide to form acetylene  gas and the quantity of the gas formed is directly proportional to the water present , leaving a surplus of the chemical used in the test.
The quality of acetylene gas produced is indicated on a built-in pressure gauge which is calibrated in percentage of moisture on wet weight basis. A conversation formula gives the corresponding moisture content based on dry weight.
    Speedy Moisture meter
    Range 0 -25%
    Graduation: 0.5%

Each instrument is supplied complete in a carrying case fitted with counterpoised balance for weighing the sample, scoop for measuring carbide reagent, a set of steel balls and a cleaning brush.

    Infra- Red Moisture Meter

    Infra- Red Moisture Meter
    Ref. Standard : IS:2720 (Part2)
    EKE 038:

This moisture meter has been designed for rapid and accurate determination of the moisture content of a wide variety of materials.

t is a torsion wire instrument, the torque being applied to one end of the wire by means of a calibrated drum to balance the loss of weight as the test sample dries under infrared radiation. The speed of drying (about 30 min) thus obtained combined with the frictionless balancing system gives the result as accurate as those obtained by standard oven drying method. Since drying and weighting are simultaneous .It is specially useful for determination of moisture in substances , that quickly reabsorbs moisture after drying. The infrared radiation is controlled by a voltage regulator and thereby provides excellent heat control. The instrument is  provided with an indicator lamp, which glows when the unit is switched on.

The torsion balance has  a built-in magnetic damper to reduce pan vibrations enabling quicker weighing. The balance scale (drum) is divided in terms of moisture  percentages  on wet weight basis, which are read directly from it. Graduations are from 0 to 100% in 0.2% divisions, but reading may be estimated to 0.1% moisture content.

It is portable unit, supplied complete with one Infra-Red Lamp and L-shaped Thermometer.

Suitable for operation 220 V, 50 Hz, Single Phase , AC supply.

    Technical Specifications
    Capacity  5 g approx.
    Sensitivity  10 mg approx.
Range  0 to 100% moisture content on wet weight basis
    Reading Accuracy  ± 0.25%

    Speedy Moister Tester
    Ref. Standard : ASTM D4944; AASHTO T217
    EKE 0155

The EKE 0155 Speedy Moisture Tester is used to determine the moisture content of soils, sand and fine aggregates in the field. It is an easily and portable method. The amount of gas, which is given off when water and calcium carbide are mixed and react , is directly proportional to the amount of water present in the sample and results in percentage moisture are taken from a pressure gauge.

Those model is used for moisture determination of a 25 g specimen with 20% maximum moisture content. EKE 0155 Speedy Moisture Tester dose not include Calcium Carbide Powder.
