EKE 161:
Core cutter of known volume is driven into the soil by rammer. The core cutter is dug out, trimmed and the soil inside weighed and dried for moisture and density check.
The equipment consists one each of:
EKE 16101: Cylindrical Core Cutter made is steel, 100 mm dia. x 130 mm long.
EKE 16102: Steel Dolly 25 mm high and 100 mm dia. Fitted with a lip, to enable it to be located on top of the Core-Cutter

This Apparatus is used for determination of the dry density of compact, fine, medium grained soils for layers not exceeding 50 cm thickness, A circular hole is dug into the ground, All the soil from within it collected, weighed and dried, and the hole back-filled with a standard uniform sand or fine gravel, poured from a calibrated container for calculating the volume of hole.

EKE 0990 (1600 ml) Balloon Density Apparatus are used for the on-site determination of the density of well bonded soil according to the ASTM
EKE 0990 consists of a graduated cylinder of 1596 ml capacity housed inside an aluminium guard, a reversible rubber aspirator pump, a density plate 9 inches square, and 12 rubber balloons. The principal of operation in smaller to the sand replacement but the hole is filled by a rubber balloon where water is pumped. The amount of water can be easily determined by the graduation of the cylinder.

EKE 0992 (3000 ml) Balloon Density Apparatus are used for the on-site determination of the density of well bonded soil according to the NF P94-061-2 French Standard respectively.
The capacity of EKE 0992 apparatus is 3000 ml. A metal cylinder is filled with the water which is then pumped in to a rubber membrane mounted on the base of the cylinder. The water pressure is controlled by a pressure gauge and the volume of the balloon is measured on the graduated piston setm.
